Labor
Day week-end was a trip to Cooperstown, NY with Wally and Ingrid Colby, our dear
friends. We left Connecticut early on Friday afternoon and arrived at
Meadow-Vale Campgrounds in Mount Vision, NY around 4:30 p.m. The
campground was high on top of a mountain and had a beautiful lake, a swimming
pool (way too cold for all of us but Norm) and miscellaneous other features.
We set up the RV, having some difficulties making it level...but we finally got
that straightened out.
Saturday we drove to a nearby parking lot and took a trolley into the town.
Norm and Wally went to the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum and Ingrid and I walked
and shopped around the town. We didn't really buy anything as the shops
were all baseball related! Imagine that!!

On Sunday, the campground had lots of activities going on. Ingrid and I watched a pie eating contest - it was pretty funny. At 2, there was a Chicken BBQ with corn and everybody brought something to share. There was tons of food and we didn't have to cook a thing!! Later on that afternoon, the campground sponsored an ice cream social as well as a DJ in the evening. We spent a lot of the afternoon gathering firewood as I was determined to build a fire and find free wood in the woods - it made sense to me! So, off we went to gather wood and there was a lot of it - way too much to carry. Just as we were figuring on going to get the car, this band of children appeared on the trail and I convinced them to help us carry the wood. It was pretty funny, I felt like Tom Sawyer with the whitewashing of the fence!

On Sunday we stayed through breakfast, broke up camp and drove back to Connecticut. We had a nice time.
