First Days

Home Up Delaware Seashore

September 28, 2004

We left Rocky Hill in the morning, with the skies overcast and heavy rains predicted.  Our first stop was the McDonald's on the Garden State Parkway!!  We were meeting our cousins Judy and Jill Fischman!!  Doesn't everybody meet at a McDonald's???   We enjoyed our visit with the Fischman ladies and made plans to spend Thursday night with Amy Fischman in southern NJ.

We left the McDonald's and made our way to New Providence, NJ to see Norm's friends Joe and Joan Daurio.  Tropical storm Jeanne was really socking it to us.  The torrential rain made driving difficult, but Norm did just great!  I was a little nervous, however...  When it was time to go to sleep, the rain was still really fierce.  That night, listening to the rain plummeling down on our roof made for some restless sleep.

Finally by the morning, the rain had stopped and we continued on our way to Cathy and Steve's house in Cream Ridge, NJ.  My parents met us there and Dad cleaned the carpets on the RV!!   They look brand new now!!

Rags and Spanky had a fun filled afternoon.  Rags got to eat Spanky's food and his cookies!!  Cathy made a fabulous dinner and I got to play catch football with Matthew.  Norm took Adam to soccer practice and Mom continued her love affair with the Yankees on tv.

Tomorrow, Thursday, we are going to Camper's World, just outside of Philadelphia.  We have to return an RV cover that we bought in the spring - I just don't see us leaving the rig long enough to cover it!!  I want to buy some assorted RV things - toilet disinfectant, some extra drawer locks, bars to keep dishes in the cabinets - important things like that!!  Amy Fischman is coming for dinner and we'll spend the night at the store's parking lot.  How much fun does that sound???

Friday morning, we plan to take a trip to Rehobeth Beach, Delaware for a few days of rest and relaxation before the FMCA rally in Harrington, DE.  The weather report sounds beautiful - we think it will be like a gorgeous day on Block Island in the fall.
