On Sunday, October 17, we left the beautiful campground at Lake Fairfax and drove north to the Pennsylvania Dutch country. We plan to do some sightseeing and also to attend Homecoming week-end at Franklin and Marshall College, where Norm went to school from 1957-1961. We checked into Flory”s Campground in Ronks, PA (a few miles east of Lancaster) and set things up. We immediately started hearing the clop clop of horse’s hooves. When we looked out the front windows of our coach, we were able to see an almost constant parade of Amish buggies passing by. Shelley got out a local phone book, and looked up local Jewish temples. She let out a yelp when she discovered that the Rabbi of a downtown temple was Jack Paskoff, the very same person who introduced us and officiated at our wedding. What a coincidence!!

On Monday, we went into Lancaster and wandered around a bit. It was amazing to Norm how much things had changed since he attended school here, but, after all, it has been more than 40 years. We stopped to see Rabbi Paskoff, but he was busy. However, we started talking to the secretary at the temple and discovered that Shelley’s childhood best friend, Debbie Steinman, and her sister Beth and her father Dr. Bob Steinman were involved with the Lancaster congregation!! The secretary gave Shelley Dr. Bob's phone number and, of course, Shelley immediately called them. Dr. Bob invited them for supper and Shelley had the reunion she'd been thinking about for many years!! The Steinman family lived across the street from Shelley when she was growing up and she and Debbie were best friends until they moved away when the girls were going into 10th grade. What fun it was to be together again! Lots of tears were shed and a date was made to go out for dinner later in the week.
